Climate change, the widening gap between poor and rich and an unpredictable energy supply are just a few challenges cities face. How can we make urban areas more autonomous, resilient and socially just?
During a lecture for the summer school ‘Social Policies & the Urban Fabric‘ at Amsterdam University I taught students about sustainability and the city. The students were from Asia, South America, Australia and Europe. Their background varied from political sciences, architecture to even one student studying medicine. This made up for an interesting lecture in which I gave the space for students to tell how their country or studies approaches sustainability.
